GIL Express

What is GIL Express?

The GIL Express service allows you to request and borrow books from other University System of Georgia libraries. All currently enrolled students and currently employed faculty and staff in good standing at UGA Libraries are eligible to use GIL Express.

GIL Express books can be delivered to any participating library. Choose your preferred pickup location when placing your request. Most requests are ready for pickup within 4 business days.

Checking Out Books

  • GIL Express books are checked out for 28 days and can be returned to any USG library. GIL Express materials are automatically renewed twice.
  • Books may be picked up or returned at any USG library.
  • There are no daily overdue fines for GIL Express books. Possible fines include recall fines, damage charges, replacement costs for lost materials, and service fees charged by some libraries for billing costs. All financial obligations must be resolved with the library that owns the material.
  • UGA Libraries charge higher daily fines for recalled books, and these fines apply to GIL Express loans. Your original due date may be shortened on any book that has been recalled.
