Programs for Faculty
Programs for Faculty
UGA Libraries partners with units across campus to offer faculty programs that support teaching, research, and creative work. Each program pairs instructors and researchers with library expertise, collections, spaces, and technology, and most include a stipend and a community of peers.

Special Collections Libraries Fellows
In partnership with the Center for Teaching & Learning
Special Collections Libraries Fellows explore archives-based learning, a high-impact practice that teaches students to read closely, analyze critically, and build research questions from primary sources. Fellows work with archivists from the Hargrett Rare Book & Manuscript Library, the Richard B. Russell Library for Political Research and Studies, and the Walter J. Brown Media Archives & Peabody Awards Collection. Together they design or revise a course around those collections.
- Who: Full-time UGA faculty, tenure and non-tenure track, teaching a new or revised archives-centered course
- What you get: Workshops, individual consultations, a designated Special Collections liaison, and a $3,000 stipend
- Format: A cohort of up to 12 fellows, held over Maymester
- Apply by: January 8, 2027

Creative Engagement Wing (CEW) Fellows
In partnership with the Office of Active Learning, EITS, and the Center for Teaching & Learning
CEW Fellows redesign a student-centered assignment around the tools and spaces of the Creative Engagement Wing in the Miller Learning Center. These include 3D printers, laser cutters, podcasting studios, and immersive VR/XR environments. Fellows receive hands-on training, peer feedback, and a stipend. They finish with a redesigned assignment, a final presentation, and a contribution to a shared repository of CEW-integrated assignments.
- Who: Full-time UGA faculty of all ranks and titles teaching a course that can incorporate CEW resources
- What you get: A series of workshops (seven in the most recent cohort), peer coaching, and a $2500 stipend
- Selection: Based on the creativity and feasibility of your assignment idea, its potential to engage students, and its fit with active learning principles and UGA Institutional Competencies
- Next cohort: To apply, please complete the application form by 5 p.m., January 16, 2027

AI & Data Studio Faculty Partners Program
In partnership with the Center for Teaching & Learning
UGA Libraries and the Center for Teaching & Learning are excited to launch two new cohorts - one focused on teaching and one focused on research - as part of the AI & Data Studio. Each is a small group of about nine colleagues from across campus working through what AI means for their own practice and each participant will receive a $2,000 stipend.
These tracks share a common approach: no one is expected to be an AI expert or an AI evangelist. What matters is that you’ve already engaged thoughtfully with AI in your own teaching or research — including deciding where it doesn’t belong — and want to keep working that out alongside colleagues across disciplines.
- Research Exchange (led by UGA Libraries) - For faculty, postdocs, graduate students, and research staff exploring what AI means for their own research practice — literature review, data analysis, coding, authorship, or research communication. The AI Research Exchange brings together people at every point in their AI journey, from the curious to the fluent. Whatever your fluency or comfort level with AI, there’s a place for you here. Some of the most valuable conversations happen across those differences, such as a faculty member working through a research question alongside a graduate student who is further along in hands-on experimentation. Your best conversation may be with someone you never would have expected to meet.
- Teaching Exchange (led by CTL) - For faculty who have made intentional choices about AI’s role in their own courses and want to deepen that thinking alongside colleagues, then help shape faculty-facing programming through the AI & Data Studio.
Both cohorts begin in early Spring 2027, meet regularly throughout the spring semester (either biweekly or every 3 weeks) for conversation and final deliverable development, and then lead a session or workshop of their choosing in the Studio for the campus community in fall 2027.
Applications are open from November 3, 2026 to December 9, 2026.
