University System Borrowing Privileges - All eligible students, faculty and staff of the University of Georgia may use the GIL Express service to borrow books from all libraries within the University System of Georgia. Search the statewide Universal Catalog and make requests. For your convenience GIL Express items may be picked up or returned at any USG library.

Recall Fines - UGA libraries charge higher daily fines for recalled items, and these fines apply to GIL Express loans. Also, your original due date may be shortened on any item that has been renewed if someone at the owning library recalls the material. You may monitor your "My Account" record frequently and return materials on time in order to avoid late charges. (Go to the GIL-Find catalog or your local catalog and click "My Account" to check your due dates.) Payment for recall fines and fees can be made in person at the Main and Science Libraries' circulation desks with cash, check, or credit card. Payments can also be made by phone with a credit card or by mail with a check or money order payable to the order of UGA Libraries.

Renewals - If your account is in good standing and no one else has requested items, GIL Express materials are automatically renewed twice.

Blocks - One  overdue book will block your library privileges, at all USG libraries, including UGA. Fines that can accrue include recall fines, damage charges, replacement and processing costs for lost materials, and service fees charged by some libraries for billing costs. All financial obligations must be resolved with the library that owns the material.
