Research in British history and Parliament just became easier at UGA! 

The U.K. Parliamentary Papers database from ProQuest contains historical and current content from the House of Commons and the House of Lords, including papers, debates, journals, bills, and acts. Also included are command papers, Hansard (Official Report of debates), and public petitions to Parliament. Coverage begins in the 1600s.

As of July 1, 2019 GALILEO will replace Nexis Uni with Westlaw Campus Research: Law. 

Westlaw’s federal and state legal content is now available for UGA students, faculty, and staff to preview. It's also in our Databases A-Z list. International legal content should be added by July 1.

Beginning Monday, May 13, most Kanopy streaming videos will need to be requested before viewing.

Previously, UGA users were able to view many films on the Kanopy site simply by opening them. After a film received a small number of views – no matter how brief – the UGA Libraries had to pay a substantial annual license fee for that film. As use has increased, our costs have risen sharply to the point that we can no longer afford to offer unmediated access.  While moving to request-based (mediated) access may not be as convenient, we are making this change to enable us to continue to provide access to Kanopy films but in a more sustainable way.

The UGA campus will not have internet for most of the day on Saturday, March 9th.

At the Special Collections Libraries, this means we will not be able to provide access to materials. If you would like to view materials on Saturday, please contact us sclib@uga.edu or 706-542-7123 by 12pm on Friday, March 8th.

For the other campus Libraries, this means that you will not be able to login to our computers, and our systems (e.g., websites and other resources) will be inaccessible. You will still be able to check out books.

The University of Georgia will conduct network maintenance on Saturday, March 9 beginning at 8:00 a.m. This means that both campus internet and campus information systems will be down, possibly all day.

The Teacher’s Monthly Reports Collection, monthly teacher reports from African-American rural and city schools operating from 1930 to 1939 in Laurens County, Georgia, is now available online, thanks in part to the DLG's 2018 Competitive Digitization grant program, a funding opportunity intended to broaden DLG partner participation for statewide historic digitization projects.

These monthly reports were created by individual teachers to be submitted to the Laurens County Superintendent. The reports list student names, age, grade and attendance for the month. Many of these records also show teacher salaries, addresses, and other information. The DLG has digitized 126 folders with reports for 58 schools. 

 The Pinebranch, the first student publication of South Georgia State Normal College and Georgia State Woman's College (both earlier names for Valdosta State University) is now available online.

The Pinebranch was a literary magazine published from September or October of 1917 to May of 1934. In addition to stories and poetry, the magazine included editorials, and news from campus and alumni. UGA is now a HathiTrust Digital Library partner institution.

HathiTrust preserves and provides access to content digitized from research library collections. “Full View” items may be viewed by anyone since they are no longer protected by copyright or have been given open access permission. “Limited (search only)” items are still under copyright protection. Although “Limited” items cannot be viewed online through the HathiTrust, you are searching their contents when you run a search.

The famed Chicago Manual of Style recently published their 17th edition. UGA students, faculty, and staff can find it in the Chicago Manual of Style Online or under the Databases A-Z menu on the Libraries' homepage.
