Print Articles and Book Chapters
Library research can be challenging for students and faculty who are enrolled in or teaching distance learning or off-campus classes. Currently, the UGA Libraries Document Delivery Service supports these students and teachers by scanning and emailing print articles and book chapters that are held in UGA Libraries’ circulating collection. To obtain articles and book chapters owned by other libraries, please submit your request to the Interlibrary Loan Department. Electronic copies will be sent to you via email as an attachment. The University of Georgia Libraries will mail print books owned by the UGA Libraries directly to your home if you are enrolled in UGA distance learning classes or in UGA graduate courses that have no on-campus meetings. You must also live outside of the state of Georgia to be eligible for home delivery of UGA Libraries’ materials. However, you can receive deliveries of Interlibrary Loan materials borrowed from other libraries, whether you live in the state of Georgia or elsewhere in the United States.
Services are only available to those currently registered in qualifying UGA courses.

Delivery of Books from the UGA Collection
If you are a resident of Georgia, you may use GIL Express to request that books in the UGA Libraries collection be sent to a University System of Georgia Library close to your home, where you can pick them up and return them. Delivery time between libraries generally takes about 3 to 4 days working days.
If you are not a resident of Georgia, you may request that books in the UGA Libraries collection be mailed to your home address. You must register each semester and complete the book delivery form for each individual item. You must sign for materials shipped to you. It is your responsibility to return the materials at your own expense using FedEX, UPS, or a similar carrier. Normal fees for overdue and lost items apply, so you should ship items back to the Libraries a few days before their due dates. This service does not include popular books, DVDs, bound journals, or reference materials.
If the book you request is not owned by the UGA Libraries, you’ll be prompted to log into your Interlibrary Loan account to complete the online request form.
Delivery of Interlibrary Loan Books
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a service through which patrons of the UGA Libraries can borrow materials owned by other libraries.
Eligible students and faculty can have the UGA Libraries’ Interlibrary Loan Department mail qualifying items to your home address. Please note that delivery time varies for Interlibrary Loan materials, and circulation periods vary as well, depending on the lending library. This service does not include textbooks, DVDs, bound journals, or reference materials.
