Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library

In 1969, professor Jack Kehoe journeyed to Italy to create a unique opportunity for University of Georgia students. He found the ideal site for an experiential learning environment amidst the history, culture and beauty of Cortona.

"Experiencing Cortona: Celebrating 50 Years of UGA Study Abroad" reflects on the program’s history with a display of original artifacts, photographs, documents and more drawn from the Cortona Program Records, a part of the university’s archives housed in the Hargrett Library.

Join UGA Libraries, Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, and the Georgia Review in celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Georgia Writers Hall of Fame with a lecture by W. Ralph Eubanks. The event is part of the 2020 Spotlight on the Arts Festival.

Featuring vibrant hostess DeAundra Peek, the American Music Show ran as a public access cable television program in Atlanta, Georgia, from 1981 to 2005.

The 2020 Lillian Smith Book Awards ceremony will be held virtually on Sunday September 6, 2020 at 2:00PM as part of the annual AJC Decatur Book Festival, one of the largest independent book festivals in the country. Registration is free and available now through Eventbrite.

On August 26, 1920 the 19th Amendment was certified by the U.S. Secretary of State and women achieved the right to vote throughout the United States. Join the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library in celebrating the 100th anniversary of this event with a virtual tour of the exhibit "The Strategies of Suffrage: Mobilizing a Nation for Women's Rights" on Wednesday, August 26th at 2:00 p.m. The event will be streamed live on our Facebook page.
