First Year Odyssey and the UGA Libraries

As your partners in teaching and scholarship, the UGA Libraries offer many resources and services to support you in planning and implementing your First Year Odyssey. From hands-on workshops to online guides to engaging campus events, we look forward to being a part of your class.

Instruction and Consultations

  • Instruction - Librarians and Archivists are available to lead a hands-on workshop for your class or visit your classroom for a demonstration. Workshops can run one class period, multiple class periods or just a portion of a class, depending on your assignment and needs. Request a class visit.
  • Consultations - Meet with a librarian to discuss assignment design or refer your students to a librarian for extra help with class assignments. Request a meeting.
  • Your Librarian - Each department has a dedicated subject specialist librarian. Find your contact for leading a research workshop, collaborating on assignment design, creating a research guide, purchasing resources and more! Librarians by school, college, or department

Events

We host events throughout the semester which will help introduce your students to the Libraries and fulfill the FYO campus event attendance requirement. Topics include research and organization strategies, tips on fighting plagiarism, lectures, exhibits, film screenings, deliberative forums on policy issues, and more! View our events calendar.

Curriculum Support

  • Online Research Guides - Librarians in your subject area can create custom-made online research guides to point your students to scholarly sources including databases, print sources, primary source collections, scholarly sources on the web and more. Examples of class guides and subject guides.
  • Online Tutorials - Embed or link to these tutorials on library basics at your class webpage or course module.
  • Reserves and E-Reserves - Select and make available library resources for your class.
