Workshop: Intro to Python for Text Processing Part 1
This workshop will introduce participants to processing textual data with Python, focusing on cleaning and editing texts to make them suitable for further analysis. Familiarity with basic Python is encouraged, but not required. Participants will need to have Python 3.9+ and Jupyter notebooks installed to follow along. Spotlight x Spotlight Ecologies // Sea Sound Seen: Peter Van Zandt Lane, Dana Montlack, and Felicia Zamora
Join us for aqueous work from an award-winning poet and distinguished composer. Peter Van Zandt Lane will give a presentation on his current composition project, Thresholds, a work for orchestra and electronics that incorporates data sonification from the Georgia Coastal Ecologies Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) site and is supported by a grant from the Georgia Sea Grant Artists Program.

Workshop: Intro to R for Text Analysis Part 2
Learn how to use R for text analysis in this workshop series! This second installment will cover how to perform sentiment analysis and topic modeling. Familiarity with basic R is encouraged but not required. Attendees should come with R (www.r-project.org) and RStudio (www.posit.co/download/rstudio-desktop) pre-installed on their computers.

Meagan Duever, GIS Librarian at UGA, will be presenting a workshop on how to get started with basic mapmaking using latitude and longitude data.
Exhibit Tour, Legacy: Vince Dooley, 1932-2022
Kick-off your football weekends with a tour of this exhibit featuring original artifacts and rarely seen photographs that explore the life and career of legendary UGA coach Vince Dooley. Join curator Jason Hasty at 3:00 p.m. in the second floor rotunda of the Special Collections Building. This tour is free to the public with no prior registration required. Georgia Writers Hall of Fame: Percival Everett
Join the Hargrett Library for the induction of Percival Everett into the Georgia Writers Hall of Fame on Thursday, November 2nd at 6:00 p.m. in room 285 of the UGA Special Collections Building.
