Finding Books

Why use books?

Books can provide background information or in-depth coverage of a subject. Information in books is usually not as current as information in articles or on websites.

How do I find books?

  • Search the UGA Libraries collection: Use GIL-Find to locate millions of print and ebooks in the UGA Libraries.
  • What if your book isn't owned by UGA or our copy is checked out? The GIL-Find catalog will also tell you if the book is owned by another University System of Georgia library. If it is available, you can request that a book be sent to you from any of these libraries using the GIL Express service. [Show me how]
  • Looking for a book that's not at UGA or in the Universal Catalog? Search WorldCat to identify books from thousands of libraries in the U.S. and worldwide. Use Interlibrary Loan to request the books.
  • Need an ebook that's not in GIL-Find? Browse our Ebooks site or search HathiTrust or Google Books.
