General Use Computers
These computers are available to users with a valid UGA MyID. Computer workstations include:
- Main Library: 90 computers on the first floor
- Science Library: 70 computers on the second floor
- Miller Learning Center: 374 computers on the third and fourth floors, with an additional 31 iMacs in the third floor west wing
All our general-use computers have access to vLab, or Virtual Lab, UGA's virtual desktop environment which allows students, faculty, and staff to access computer lab resources and applications from work and personal devices anywhere, at any time.
Compatible devices can access a full desktop, complete with such applications as:
- Microsoft Office suite
Sessions can be transferred from one device to another simply by opening vLab elsewhere.
Public Access Computers
The Libraries also offer public access computers available for use by non-UGA affiliated visitors. There are 5 public access computers at the Main Library, 6 at the Miller Learning Center, and one public access laptop at the Carnegie Library Learning Center. We lend technology to eligible UGA students, faculty, and staff.

Adaptive Technology for Patrons with Disabilities
Adaptive technology workstations offer access to software such as JAWS, MAGic, ClaroRead, Dragon NaturallySpeaking and more. For details see the listing of adaptive software available at the Main & Science Libraries and the Miller Learning Center.
Spaces with Special Technology
3rd Floor, Main Library
The Willson Center Digital Humanities Lab (known informally as the DigiLab) is a state-of-the-art instruction space as well as an incubator and publicity hub for nationally recognized digital humanities projects. It is outfitted with flexible workspaces for individual or collaborative projects and with advanced technological resources.
The DigiLab is a multi-use space and is open to all UGA faculty and students when not reserved for a class.
3rd Floor, Miller Learning Center
The Digital Media Lab provides UGA students access to the latest in multimedia software and hardware for the creation and editing of digital media projects. The Digital Media Lab has 12 Mac Pros. There is also a recording booth in this space.
Map and Government Information Library, Sub-Basement of the Main Library
The GIS Lab provides hardware and software for use of geographic information systems (GIS) and geospatial information. Software includes ArcGIS 10.2, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Microsoft Office.
Room 202, Science Library
The Makerspace offers 3D printers, a laser cutter, vinyl cutter, Arduino microcontrollers, Raspberry Pis, and soldering irons for education, non-commercial uses for all current University of Georgia students, faculty, and staff. For tours or to discuss how to integrate Makerspace technologies into courses, classwork, or research, please contact Andrew Johnson, Emerging Technologies Librarian.
Basement, Main Library
The Media Department has stations for viewing DVD’s, Blu-Ray, VHS videocassettes and Laser Discs. There are also listening stations for Compact Discs, LPs, and Audiocassettes. Each station can accommodate one or two persons at a time. There is one multi-format DVD station and one multi-format (PAL) VHS station to view international videos.
The Richard B. Russell Building Special Collections Libraries offers a range of classrooms, conference rooms, seminar rooms, and an auditorium that are available for reservations and rentals to UGA-affiliated groups only.
The University Libraries provide wireless Internet access as part of the PAWS network. PAWS (Personal Access Wireless/Walkup System) is the wireless gateway to University of Georgia networking resources. Using a wireless-equipped device, you can login to the wireless network with your UGA MyID You may read more about PAWS at http://www.eits.uga.edu/paws/
