"I wrote that one, too...."

Steve Dorff, a member of UGA Class of ’71 and award-winning songwriter, will talk about his career Feb. 15.

Dorff, who has written songs for Barbara Streisand, Whitney Houston, Willie Nelson and more, will discuss his new book, “I Wrote That One, Too…: A Life In Songwriting from Willie to Whitney,” and will treat guests to a few  selected songs.

The program begins 5:30 p.m. in the Richard B. Russell Building Special Collections Libraries. A reception and book signing will follow.

Lunch & Learn: Polarization in Congress

This spring join the Richard B. Russell Library for Civic Knowledge, Civic Power, a weekly lunch and learn series focused on developing a better understanding of Congress. On Tuesday, April 24th Dr. Michael Lynch and Dr. Anthony Madonna from the UGA Department of Political Science will speak about polarization in Congress. The program will take places in Room 277 of the Special Collections Building from 12:30-1:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

Transcribe-a-thon: Freedmen's Bureau Papers

In honor of the 200th birthday of Frederick Douglass, the National Museum of African American History and Culture, the Smithsonian Transcription Center, and the Colored Conventions Project are jointly hosting an event bringing together people to transcribe the Freedmen's Bureau Papers.

No experience with transcribing is necessary. Instructions, as needed, will be provided during the session. Participants may stay for any amount of time and may drop-in at any point during the three-hour event.

And, because it's a birthday celebration, we will have cake!
