Libraries Staff Representative Group
At UGA, Staff Representative Groups (SRGs) are the first level of staff governance. SRG members, elected from their units, handle concerns specific to their areas. The Libraries current structure has two at-large representatives, one of which is the Academic Affairs Staff Representative Group (AASRG) representative for the Libraries. This replaces the old structure of ten Libraries SRG members, two of which also served on AASRG. The new structure was chosen in 2007 from a staff-wide survey, with the hope that "streamlining" will make for a more effective Libraries SRG.
Current Libraries representatives to the SRG are:
- Matthew Pulver, Access Services - Science Library, email@example.com
Matthew will serve a two-year term, until July 2011. The second representative position is currently vacant. Matthew is also the AASRG representative to Staff Council.
If there are issues or concerns that you feel need to be addressed at a larger level by the University, the Libraries SRG members are your representatives to AASRG, and from there to Staff Council. Staff Council and AASRG meetings are held once a month.
The UGA Staff Council is an advisory body to the president and was established in 1992 to identify and deal with issues of concern to staff. Currently, the Staff Council meets on the first Wednesday of each month. All staff are welcome to attend the meetings but only elected representatives can vote.
Staff Council members also maintain a listserv for discussion of issues relevant to staff.
Revised May 2009.
