Workplace Policies - Food & Drink Policy (patrons)
We ask your cooperation in complying with the following:
- Drinks in bottles that can be reclosed (screw-top) or other spill-proof containers such as travel mugs or sports bottles are permitted in the Main and Science Libraries. Drinks are not permitted in:
- The Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library.
- The Richard B. Russell Library for Political Research and Studies
- Map Room
- Other designated areas within the Libraries
- In accordance with University of Georgia regulations, alcohol and the use of tobacco products are not permitted in the Libraries or within 35 feet of the entrance or exit doors or the heating and air-conditioning intake system.
- Drinks in cans and open containers are not permitted. Food is not permitted in the Libraries except in the Main Library's Student Lounge and in the hallway next to the exit gates.
Please dispose of empty containers properly; and if needed, please clean spills and bring damaged library material to a Library employee.
Why are we concerned? In many cases, library materials are expensive and often unique and irreplaceable. We strive to preserve the libraries' collections, equipment, and furnishings in order to provide a useful as well as comfortable environment.
We appreciate your cooperation.
