Making Ends Meet: Is There a Way to Help Working Americans?
A National Issues Forums (NIF) Discussion
June 23, 2007
Room 214, Student Learning Center, University of Georgia Campus
10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
The Russell-Roosevelt Policy Forum invites you to participate in the National Issues Forum (NIF) discussion, “Making Ends Meet: Is There a Way to Help Working Americans?”
Join students, faculty, policy makers, and community members to deliberate and consider one of our country's greatest challenges, how to improve the lives of the working poor in America.
Today, millions of Americans are struggling to stay economically afloat. Many of them are working full-time, but they cannot make their paychecks stretch to pay the bills for basic necessities. What has come of the American Dream that if you work hard and play by the rules, you will prosper? This forum discussion will consider three perspectives on the question of what can be done to ease the financial problems that plague both the working poor and many middle-class families. The event is free and open to the public and is also part of the Russell-Roosevelt Public Policy Institute.
