Library doesn't have it

"Oh where, oh where is my book?"

Ask Us

Have you identified the perfect book or journal article, but you can't find it in GIL, the library catalog? Does this mean the library doesn't own it? What do you do now?

  • Ask a Reference Librarian at the Reference Desk in the Science or Main Libraries to search GIL for the item. They may be able to find it even if you couldn't.
  • If the UGA Library doesn't own the book or journal, the Interlibrary Loan Office can borrow it from another library for you (available only to UGA faculty, staff and students). You can make your request online. There is no charge to borrow books on interlibrary loan. Journal articles obtained through interlibrary loan are in the form of a photocopy, cost 30 cents a page and are yours to keep.
