Introduction
This bibliography will help you find test
instruments and information about testing and measurement in the UGA
libraries. Tests may be published or unpublished. The majority
of published tests are not publicly available and in most cases you will need to
buy a copy of the test from the publisher. Tests that are not commercially
published may be found in books, journal articles, printed reports, or available
from the author. The sources cited below either contain complete
tests or tell you how to obtain them. If you intend to administer an
unpublished test, you will need to contact the author for permission; you may
incorporate these tests into academic papers without prior permission, so long
as proper credit is given.

Finding test information in GIL
To find books on tests and measurements in GIL,
the UGA libraries' catalog, use the Exact Search mode. On the search
screen, type the phrase psychological tests, click in the radio
button beside 'Subject Heading' and click on the GO button. You
will retrieve an alphabetical list of subject terms beginning with psychological
tests. If you click on the "see also" button to the left
of this term you will retrieve a list of related subject headings. You
can click on any of these terms to retrieve a list of all books that share that
subject heading. The books you retrieve will cover methods of test construction,
and/or applications of testing. They may or may not contain actual test instruments.
(The only way to be sure a book contains actual tests is to look at the book
yourself.) The same process will work with the phrase educational tests
and measurements. This subject heading will retrieve books on
testing student academic achievement and aptitudes. If you have any questions
consult a librarian at the reference desk, or call the reference department
at 542-3251 or contact us by email
.

containing tests or test information
All the databases below can be searched by
individual test name. If you are searching for articles by topic, follow
the suggested search strategies described for each of the databases.
Database searching by topic can be tricky. If you have any questions or
problems come to the reference desk, call the reference department at
706/542-3251 or email
us.
Academic Search
Premier
Coverage: 1984- (indexing and abstracts); 1990- (full text
and images)
Updates daily.

education, social sciences, business, humanities, general science, and multi-cultural
studies, as well as abstracts and indexing for over 3,000 scholarly journals,
and coverage of The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and The Christian
Science Monitor. It also includes coverage of over 1,700 peer-reviewed journals.
Useful keyword search terms for tests in this database include psychological
tests; educational tests and measurements and the term testing
used in combination with other subject terms. You can restrict your search
to scholarly journals by clicking in the 'peer reviewed' box at the bottom of
the screen. For example:
Dissertation Abstracts

1980-. Masters Abstracts, Spring 1988- .

institutions. Selectively covers masters theses and international dissertations.

the BASIC SEARCH screen to search by test name, or subject. Your terms will be retrieved
from the title or abstract. Click on the 'Search Tips' link for detailed advice on constructing a search query.
(Note: UGA usually does not own dissertations from other institutions, but they can be borrowed through the Interlibrary Loan Office.)

Education Full Text
Coverage: Indexes, 1983 -. Abstracts, 1994- . Full
text, 1996- .
Updates: Weekly
To locate articles dealing with testing, add
the subject "tests and scales" to your subject terms. For example:
If your search does not produce results, try redoing your search, but
entering your topic terms (here, 'gifted') in the "Words Anywhere" field
rather than in the subject field. Note that you can limit your
search to full text articles only and/or peer reviewed articles only.
ERIC (at
EBSCOhost)
Coverage: 1966 to the present
Selected full text microfiche documents, 1993 -
present
Updates quarterly
ERIC is the largest online index to education
information in the world, and includes journal articles,
research findings, projects, technical reports, speeches, unpublished manuscripts,
curriculum guides and books. The items you find in ERIC will be in one
of two formats: journal articles, or microfiche documents. Most ERIC documents published from 1993 onward will be full text online.
The following are two ways to locate test information
by topic; each method may produce different results on the same topic, so
a comprehensive search requires both. Both methods use the ADVANCED SEARCH
mode. The first example, below, searches two terms, "gifted" and "measure*"
as Subjects in the pull down menu. The '*' is a truncation symbol that
allows you to search a root word; in this case 'measure*' will retrieve measurement,
measures, measure, etc. The example below also searches
for the truncated terms "append? or attach?" in 'all fields' since one of those terms is usually used in a abstract when an actual test instrument is included in the article.
To see a complete list of subject terms relevant to tests and
measures, click on the Thesaurus Search A-Z button and search the ERIC
thesaurus for the term measures (individual).
The second method to search for test instruments
is to type in your subject search terms in the 'SU Subject' field as in the
previous example, but then hold down the control button and select both 'Statistical Data' and 'Tests/Evaluation Instruments' from the
scrollbox menu at the bottom of the screen.

PsycINFO (at
EBSCOhost)
Coverage: 1887 to the present
Updates: Monthly
Contains citations, abstracts and some full text
of journal articles, book chapters, books, and technical reports and dissertations
in the field of psychology and psychological aspects of related disciplines.
If you are searching for information on a particular test, simply search by
test name. If you are looking for a copy of the test, try adding the keyword
appended to your search as well. For more terms relating to testing
or measurement, click on the button 'Thesaurus Search A-Z' and type in
the term measurement to choose among 60 possible descriptors dealing
with testing and measurement; using the ADVANCED search mode, combine one of these
terms with other subject terms suitable to your topic. For
example:

Test information can also be searched by form/content type.. Using the
ADVANCED SEARCH mode, type in your appropriate search terms, then scroll to
the bottom of the screen and use the 'Methodology' pulldown menu to select
the particular type of study you are looking for (ex: quantitative study, empirical study, etc.) Hold down the Control key to choose more than one type.
Sociological Abstracts
Coverage: 1952 to present.
Updates monthly.
Contains information from approximately 2500
journals in 30 different languages from about 55 countries Covers sociology
and related disciplines. Consult the Thesaurus of Sociological
Indexing Terms under the phrase measures (instruments) to see a
complete list of terms dealing with tests and measures. (You will find the Thesaurus online by clicking on the 'Search Tools' tab, then clicking on the 'Thesaurus' tab.) Combine this
subject term with another subject term from the Thesaurus that best
describes your topic. For example:
