University of Georgia Libraries Using PsycINFO to Find Articles
Full text from PsycINFO Getting the article Basic Search Home Quiz yourself! Getting the online article using the Electronic Journal Locator Finding too much? Not finding enough? What is PsycINFO? Getting to PsycINFO Locating Print Journals

Getting the print journal using GIL
The UGA Libraries subscribe to over 18,000 online journals but not all journals are available online yet. So if PsycINFO does not have a link to full text and the Electronic Journal Locator does not find the journal online, then it is time to look for the print (paper) copy of the journal.

Option 1
The UGA Libraries' online catalog GIL is a database of the location of all the books and journals in the Main and Science Library. To determine if the Libraries own a paper copy of a journal search for the full journal title at gil.uga.edu (GIL is also available off the Libraries' homepage). A Fast Search by Journal Title is shown below:

For more information on using GIL see the GIL Quick Start Tutorial

Option 2
PsycINFO also provides a way to link to the Libraries' catalog GIL to find paper journal locations.

  1. When you get PsycINFO search results click on an article title. This links to a page with more detailed article information and an abstract (a summary) of the article.

  2. Scroll to the bottom of the abstract page to find a display location link as shown in the image below.

Scroll to the bottom of the article abstract page and click on the display locations link. Image of abstract page and link.

  3. Clicking on this link will search for the journal location in GOLD, a database of journal holdings for many Georgia Libraries.

  4. Below the GOLD publication information for the journal is a list of libraries that subscribe to the journal as shown below. If UGA is listed click on the link to GIL@UGA to pull up the journal location information in GIL.

Note: The call number GIL provides is where all the issues of the journal are located. Once you get to the journal on the shelf you will need to know the volume, issue, and page numbers of your specific article. Remember to get this information from PsycINFO.
