Information is organized in many different ways to suit various needs and audiences. Knowing what type of information you need and where to look for it will save a lot of time when you do research.

You probably already know that you need to search for information that relates to your research topic, but there are other choices you may need to consider:

  • How much depth of detail do you need? (basic background information? indepth coverage? a quick fact?)
  • Are you searching for scholarly or popular publications, or both?
  • Do you need primary or secondary sources, or both?

This section will answer these questions and more!
