American Historical Newspapers provides cover-to-cover digital reproductions of hundreds of historic newspapers with complete text-searching capabilities. The collection is based on Clarence Brigham's "History and Bibliography of American Newspapers, 1690-1820," supplemented by newspaper holdings from numerous other institutions and historical societies such as the Boston Athenaeum, the Connecticut Historical Society, the Connecticut State Library, the Library Company of Philadelphia, the Library of Congress, the libraries of universities such as Brown and Harvard, and private collections. The Libraries have access to segment 1 of this collection as well as additional newspapers from South Carolina.

• A newly compiled directory of manuscript repositories, giving full addresses, including e-mail and URLs, opening hours, and details of holdings and areas of special interest. This directory updates and supersedes the Directory of Archives and Manuscript Repositories in the United States (DAMRUS) last published in 1988.
• Collection records from the National Union Catalogue of Manuscript Collections (NUCMC). Information gathered and compiled by the Library of Congress (LC)from the 1950s through the end of 1997, covering some 76,000 collections. Each record also includes the LC's subject and name indexing of the collection.
• Names and detailed subject indexing of over 44,000 collections whose finding aids have been published separately in the major microfiche series, National Inventory of Documentary Sources in the United States (NIDS).

The NUCMC and NIDS information has been integrated to provide a single record for each collection, with detailed information drawn from both resources when available. The first installment of a growing body of collection records submitted directly to ArchivesUSA has also been included.

• Arte Público Hispanic Historical Collections Series 1 presents a digital collection of historical content pertaining to U.S. Hispanic history, literature and culture. This collection accurately conveys the creative life of U.S. Hispanics and sheds new light on the intellectual vigor and traditional values that have characterized Hispanics from the earliest moments of American history through 1960. Arte Público Hispanic Historical Collection draws its content from Recovering the U.S. Hispanic Literary Heritage Project, including the complete texts of over 1,100 books, 60,000 articles, newspapers, reviews, religious and political pamphlets, poems, and short stories.
