Call Number: PQ3988.5 .N6 D43 1984- North African authors of French expression are divided by nationality into sections on Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia. The coverage is from either 1880 or 1920 (depending on the country) to 1982. Each author entry includes a brief biography and sometimes discussion of specific works. Arabic-language authors who have been translated into French are treated in an appendix. Another appendix lists journals about Maghreb literature.

Using chronological tables it integrates their life events with publication of their works. Brief synopses of these works are provided. Non-author entries ("Bibliotheque", "Censure") are included as they touch literature. Each entry ends with bibliographic references, and an index of titles leads to the appropriate author entry.

The Le Monde web site provides the current daily issue and articles from the past three days in the Archives (linked from the bottom of the web page). The Factiva database in GALILEO contains the full text of articles from 1995-present. The UGA Libraries own the microfilm from 1944-present. Indexing: For the following scattered years we have a print index in the Reference Room: 1944-1945; 1950-1951; 1958; 1965-1968. The Le Monde web Archives offers a searchable index from 1987-present. For other years there is no index, and you must consult the microfilm by the date of the event of interest.
