- The Encyclop�dia Britannica database includes more than 73,000 articles from the printed Encyclop�dia Britannica, including more than 8,000 articles that are not found in the print set. The resource also includes year-in-review articles from recent yearbooks, The Britannica Student Encyclopedia, and Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary and Thesaurus. Most articles are brief or of moderate length and discuss people, places, institutions, things, or concepts. Longer articles are divided into separate sections for easier access and more accurate searching. The database also includes an extensive World Atlas linking users to maps, flags, statistics, and more of over 215 countries. The Britannica Internet Guide includes links to over 200,000 related Web sites, selected for content by Britannica editors.

Historical dictionary of the English language. 
- The Oxford English Dictionary is the accepted authority on the evolution of the English language over the last millennium. The OED gives definitions, etymological analysis, and quotations to demonstrate the use of words in the English language over time.
The web-based version of the OED includes all information contained in the print counterpart, plus at least 1,000 new and revised entries each quarter.
The publisher, Oxford University Press, provides extensive information about the dictionary and its use on its web site.

Index to doctoral dissertations and masters theses 
- Dissertation Abstracts / Digital Dissertations at ProQuest covers dissertations accepted at accredited U.S. institutions since 1861. Approximately 47,000 new dissertations and 12,000 new theses are added to the database each year. It selectively covers masters theses, Canadian dissertations, British, and other international dissertations. Abstracts are included for dissertations beginning July 1980 and for masters theses beginning spring 1988. For dissertations done in 1997 and later, full text is PDF form of some titles is available.
For dissertations and theses completed prior to those dates, references are given to the print edition of Dissertation Abstracts, American Doctoral Dissertations and Masters Abstracts. Abstracts may be consulted in those publications.
Not all dissertations from all participating universities are included in Dissertation Abstracts. Coverage depends on the date a university began online contribution of their abstracts to University Microfilms International (now ProQuest). Also, for many European universities the contribution of abstracts was the responsibility of the student.
ProQuest Digital Dissertations offers subscribers access to dissertations in digital format starting with titles published from 1997 forward. Users affiliated with participating doctoral-granting institutions may download for free PDF copies of disserations granted by their own institutions (but not from institutions other than their own). The free PDF downloads are available only from on-campus computers. Free preview copies of the first 24 pages of many dissertations (1997- ) are available to all users of the database. NOTE: It is possible to purchase copies of dissertations in a variety of formats online in the Dissertation Abstracts / Digital Dissertations database. However, if you wish to borrow disserations from other institutions, please contact the Interlibrary Loan Department.

- University of Georgia Electronic Theses and Dissertations is a collection of the theses and dissertations submitted electronically to the Graduate School at the University of Georgia since the summer of 1999.
All dissertations are included, although some may not be viewable from off campus. The record for an individual document is always viewable, and will indicate the availability of the document. The author of a dissertation or thesis, in conjunction with his or her major professor, makes the determination if the work will be publicly available. The database can be searched by keywords, author, title, department, major, major professor, committee members, etc. For additional information, click the Instructions button on any search screen. Since an individual's name may appear in the database in various ways (especially for faculty members on the advisory committees), use the Browse Search to find all variations.
Most of the documents are in the PDF format.
NOTE: The complete text of the dissertations and theses is not searchable in this database. However, for those that are publicly available, use the Adobe Find feature (binoculars icon) to search the text of an individual thesis or dissertation.

- GAcollege411 is a resource freely available on the Web designed to help Georgia high school students and others who are interested in attending college explore careers, prepare for college and learn about financial aid opportunities. Resources include tools for matching students to careers; detailed information on specific careers; SAT, ACT, and GRE test preparation; tools for comparing Georgia colleges and universities; online forms for loan applications, FAFSA, and Hope Scholarship/Tuition Equalization Grant; and tools for financial planning. Users can create a personal account that allows them to manage all their college and career information and can share their information with school counselors.
GAcollege411 is a collaboration of the GSFC, the University System of Georgia, the Department of Technical and Adult Education, the Foundation for Independent Colleges, the Department of Education, the School Counselors Association, the Office of Treasury and Fiscal Services, Georgia Public Broadcasting, the Professional Standards Commission, and the Georgia Public Library Service.

- Ulrich's Periodicals Directory (UlrichsWeb) is a directory of over 160,000 U.S. and foreign periodicals and other serials. It includes academic/scholarly journals, consumer magazines, and trade journals.
Information about each title is extensive and usually includes: the ISSN, status (active, ceased, forthcoming), price, publisher (name, address, telephone, website), frequency, if it is online, editor name, if it is refereed, subject category, a brief description, where it is indexed/abstracted, and, in many cases, a review. The Advanced Search option allows focused searches, for example, refereed (scholarly) journals published in the U.S. on psychology.
