Locating Nielsen TV Ratings in the UGA Libraries

The following print and electronic resources give current data on selected Nielsen Ratings.

Communication and Mass Media Complete

Searching this database using the key words Nielsen Ratings in a basic search will bring up data for both national and local markets.
 

Journals

  • Broadcasting & Cable: Main Library Call Number: PN1991 .B7
    Check table of contents for the “Nielsen Ratings.” Note that the data is for the current week only. Includes data for ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, PAX, UPN, and The WB listed with hour-by-hour rating. These weekly Nielsen TV ratings can also be searched online in: Business Source Complete, from July 1999 to the present and LexisNexis Academic, from April 10, 2000 to the present and also for January 17, 2000 and March 27, 2000; search Nielsen Ratings and enter Broadcasting & Cable in the box for journal selection.

  • USA Today: Main Library Call Number: Film AN58 .A74 U82
    Offers the current week’s Nielsen TV Ratings for the top 20 shows, evening news and prime-time programs every Wednesday in the Life section. This data from USA Today appears not to be in any online database due to the format of the chart.

  • BrandWeek: Main Library Call Number: HF5801 .A43
    Offers “Culture Trends” every week. They can be searched online in Academic Search Complete using the key word search culture trends and entering BrandWeek in the box for journal selection. This data includes for each week: Nielsen TV ratings for top 10 TV shows.
