Charge

The UGA Libraries' Faculty Committee on Professional Development and Research (PDRC) fosters professional growth of the Libraries' faculty through:

Developing and promoting continuing education activities, encouraging and facilitating participation in local, state, regional, and national organizations; and promoting research interests and activities of the Libraries Faculty.

To accomplish these goals, PDRC sponsors programs of interest to the Libraries' faculty and periodically schedules professional forums, discussions and workshops. PDRC also administers the Libraries' mentoring program.

PDRC is here for you

PDRC maintains a faculty bibliography, resources list, and coordinates a variety of seminars, training and professional development opportunities. Are you giving a presentation or paper at a conference? PDRC can help coordinate a dress rehearsal for you. PDRC will also arrange pre- or post-presentation practice sessions for faculty and staff members. Have ideas for a program or workshop for library faculty and staff? Have you recently published and wish to be included in the faculty bibliography? Contact Sheila Devaney or another member of the committee.

Membership

Membership of the committee is comprised of volunteer Faculty members who serve 2 years in addition to an elected Chair, who serves 2 years. Additionally, the Chair of PDRC serves on the Faculty Advisory Board (FAB).
