Discover America's Story is a subset of local U.S. newspapers within the larger LexisNexis Academic database of news, legal and business information. Recent news from more than 250 small-town and rural papers are covered in full text. To see a list of newspapers included in the collection, go to Discover America's Story and click the small blue "i" information icon next to "Discover America's Story" in the search form.
Because LexisNexis treats the papers as an combined data source, it is easiest to search all of the papers as a group. However, limiting to a specific paper is possible by typing
pub (dayton review), for example, in the search box. This trick also reveals in the search results that the paper is from Dayton Iowa (as opposed to say, Dayton Ohio)-- information that is not available in the title list.
LexisNexis describes Discover America's Story as "rich with articles relevant to geographic locations often under-reported or overlooked by mainstream news coverage, such as natural resources, agriculture, land use, water rights and farming". It also includes legal notices and obituaries.
