About Us

The Media Department has stations for viewing VHS videocassettes, laser discs, and DVDs. There are also listening stations for compact discs, LPs, and audiocassettes. Each station can accommodate one or two persons at a time. One station is connected to the campus cable station, and can play close-captioned programs.

For group viewing, the Media Department has a seminar room with a big-screen television and a table. This room seats 18 viewers in conference-table-style seating. It may be reserved and used by University of Georgia students as well as faculty. In addition, the Media Department screening room has a large screen for classroom-style viewing of videocassettes, laserdiscs, and DVDs. It may be used by up to 45 persons at a time. Reservations for the screening room must be made by a University of Georgia teaching assistant or faculty member. Athens area K-12 teachers may also schedule these facilities for their classes. Both the seminar room and the viewing classroom are available during hours the Media Department is open.

The Libraries' collections include a wide variety of multi-media software, some of which is available through the Media Department. Check in GIL for individual titles.

Any questions regarding the use of the facilities may be directed to:
