Media Archives hosts summer intern from the New York University Master's program in Moving Image Archiving and Preservation.

Following a youth misspent watching far too many old movies on television,
I did my undergraduate work in Radio-Television-Film at Northwestern
University. After graduating in 1991, I worked for a stock-footage
company, and then as a writer/producer of television documentary programs,
mostly for outlets like A&E and The History Channel. I'm now in the New
York University Master's program in Moving Image Archiving and
Preservation. Because I'm considering a focus on television materials,
the Peabody Archives are a great fit--especially since the collection
holds so much material that just doesn't exist elsewhere, local
programming in particular. I think it's going to be a great summer.

In the Fall of 2003, a Beta-test version of the Peabody Awards Collection database became available through our website.

When completed, the Peabody Awards Collection database will contain detailed descriptions of all radio, television and Web entries to the Peabody Awards.
Currently, the database contains brief records for only a fraction of the entries. (We do not have copies of all programs submitted!) If you search the database today, you will find records for: television entries from 1949-1974 for which the Media Archives has a copy; all television entries from 1975-76, 1984-85, and 1990-92; and all television entries from 2001 in the Children's, Documentary, and Education categories.

These brief records contain the following information: title, broadcast station name and location, general subjects covered in the program, year of broadcast, entry number, and user copy availability. When these records are expanded, they will also contain full credit information and detailed descriptions.
