       Understanding Islam
Two special programs presented by Media Archives and the Islamic Education and Arts Center of Commerce Wednesday, October 10th, 7:00 p.m.
Islam, the Media and your Mind : Reflections on American Muslims in Crisis

-A panel composed of scholars and members of the Muslim community will discuss the true nature of Islam and compare it to what is presented in the newsand entertainment media.

-Excerpts from programs in the Peabody Awards Collection will be used to create an accurate portrayal of the faith.


Thursday, October 11th, 7:00 p.m.

American Muslim Women Before and After September 11th

-A panel discussion on the lifestyle of Muslim women in America, particularly in the South.

-Reflections on the assaults on American Muslim women by other American citizens in the wake of the tragic events of September 11th.


Both programs will be held in room B-2 of the Main Library (enter through the Lobby).

These programs are free and open to the public.




Programs screened by Media Archives are also available for viewing in the University of Georgia Libraries Media Department.
