There are well over 3,100 programs in the Collection which address issues of concern to African-Americans, or which feature African-Americans in either an on-screen or an off-screen capacity. The Collection grows every year. Because we know how difficult it would be to locate any particular program, person, or topic within such a large group, we have broken the list into sub-groups based on time periods.
Within the lists, each year's entries are grouped by Peabody entry number. Peabody entry numbers are assigned on the basis of year and category. This means that, within each list, each year's entries for a particular category will be grouped together. For example, all the Public Service entries to the 1975 Peabody Awards will be found together on the 1975-1979 list of titles.

A plus sign (+) after a Peabody number means that the program has NOT BEEN CATALOGED in GIL, the University of Georgia Libraries' online catalog.
If a program's Peabody number is not followed by a plus sign, you will be able to find information about the program in GIL.
An asterisk (*) after a Peabody number means that NO USER COPY of the program is available.
If a Peabody number is not followed by an asterisk, there should be a VHS user copy of the associated program available for viewing in the University of Georgia Libraries Media Department. However, please be aware that all audiovisual materials are fragile. We recommend that you contact the Media Department well in advance of your visit to ensure that a viewing copy is available.
