National Marine Sanctuary. This site has scientific information regarding
the reef.
Okefenokee
National Wildlife Refuge. The site has a good description of the Refuge

National Estuarine Research Reserve. The site gives information on
the Sapelo Island Reserve, including a map and some imagery.

Northeast

Augusta
History. This short history of Augusta includes a Map
of Augusta Historical Markers.
Hargrett
Library, Rare Map Collection. The Rare Map Collection at the
Hargrett Library, the University of Georgia Libraries, has had
800 rare map digitized and made available to researchers. Because
of the size of the files only 20 percent of the maps are available
on the Web site. The available maps are broken into the following
sections:
- The
New World. The section has 7 maps from the period 1544 -
1688.
- Colonial
America. The section has 65 maps from the period 1625 -
1780 and cover North America, the Caribbean, the southern colonies,
and Georgia.
- Revolutionary
America. The section has 15 maps from the period 1776 -
1895 and covers the colonies and especially the south.
- Revolutionary
Georgia. The section has 12 maps from the period 1779 -
1908 and covers Georgia and Savannah.
- Union
and Expansion. The section has 26 maps from the period 1784
- 1884 and covers mainly the southeast.
- American
Civil War. The section has 31 maps from the period 1861
- 1916.
- The
Nineteenth Century. The section has 31 maps from the period
1794 - 1898 and is sub-titled Georgia from Frontier to New South.
The maps are mainly state-wide maps although there are some
maps of the gold areas.
- Georgia
Coastal Area. The section has 37 maps from the period
1740 - 1930 and covers the coastal region , rivers, forts,
towns, and especially Savannah.
- Transportation.
The section has 27 maps from the period 1826 - 1939 and covers
roads, railroads, and canals.
