Fundraising
Spring and Fall Book Sales
LSA holds two book and media sales per year, typically one in April and one in October. Part of the proceeds from these sales is used to fund a community charitable organization or cause. Examples of past recipients are Athens Regional Library (2 magazine subscriptions, one in Spanish), the Salvation Army's Tree Angel Project, and the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Gilbert Head coordinates the sales; please contact him at eghead@uga.edu if you are interested in volunteering or if you have items to donate.
Bake Sales
LSA holds periodic bake sales, one in conjunction with the book sale, in order to raise money for LSA activities and to fund a community charitable organization or cause. Christine Packwood coordinates all the details for the bake sale; please contact her at packwood@uga.edu if you are interested in volunteering or donating baked goods.
Valentine's Day Flower Sale
Each year, LSA holds a flower sale on or around St. Valentine's Day. LSA purchases flowers from a wholesaler and sells them by the stem or arrangement. The creativity of volunteers in the art of flower arranging helps makes this event a success. Christine Packwood coordinates all the details for the flower sale; please contact her at packwood@uga.edu if you are interested in volunteering or donating vases.
Annual Dues Drive
The Fundraising Coordinator, Christine Packwood, coordinates the Annual Dues Drive, which is an opportunity for Libraries Staff to show support for all the services that LSA provides throughout the year. While not required, the paying of dues is greatly appreciated and helps us to pay for the events that LSA sponsors. Dues are currently $4 per year and can be paid to the treasurer at any time.
