Animal Welfare Drive & Display

Each year a display is erected at both the Main and Science Libraries. This display features pictures of Libraries staff members' pets as well as facts relating to the homeless pet plight both locally and nationally. In conjunction with the display, the Community Services Coordinator organizes the collection of goods to benefit local animal welfare charities. In past years, goods were collected for Athens Area Humane Society, Athens-Clarke County Animal Control, and Paws of Athens. Questions? Contact Susan Vandale at vandale@uga.edu

Athens School Supplies Drive

In the Fall, school supplies are collected to benefit the school children in Athens Clarke County. Boxes are placed to each department for Libraries’ staff to deposit their donations. The Community Services Coordinator distributes the donated school supplies to participating schools. Questions? Contact Susan Vandale at vandale@uga.edu

Winter Holiday Charity Fundraiser

Each year LSA collects donations during the holiday season in order to sponsor a family at the Joyce Ervin Open Hearts Center. The Open Hearts Center is a local nonprofit group that helps out homeless and low income families throughout the year. For every dollar collected LSA matches up to $200. The money collected is used to buy gifts for the family, which are wrapped and delivered to the Center. Volunteers are needed to assist the Community Services Coordinator with the gift shopping and wrapping. Questions? Contact Susan Vandale at vandale@uga.edu
