Libraries Book Club

Jason Hasty , LSA president, and the Devine Miss Anne are organizing a book club for Libraries staff. Details are being worked out, but the first selection will be Carson McCullers' The Heart is a Lonely Hunter. Anyone willing to lead a discussion of this classic, or to suggest future selections, contact Jason (hasty@uga.edu) or Anne (acme@uga.edu). Information will be available on the LSA website (linked at right).

Curriculum Materials Library Open House

Carla Buss , Curriculum Materials Librarian, visits with Dean Louis Castenell of the College of Education, center, and Dr. William Gray Potter , the university librarian and associate provost, at an open house celebrating the 20th anniversary of the CML.

A BIG Conference

This year's Atlanta-Area Bibliographic Instruction Group (BIG) conference will be at the Student Learning Center May 25. Details, from program chair Caroline Barratt , SLC reference, may be accessed at http://www.atlbig.zoomshare.com/2.html . This year's theme is Instruction (In)Flux: Librarians as Agents of Change. Registration is free, but we do need to know if you are attending. Please RSVP by Friday, May 4th to Caroline Barratt at atlbig@gmail.com .

Main Library: The annual LSA Animal Welfare education and supply drive for area animal welfare groups. Beneficiaries of this year's supply drive are Campus Cats, dedicated to reducing the number of homeless cats on campus (www.feralcatscaregivers@yahoo.com), the Madison/Oglethorpe Animal Shelter (www.moaspets.org), and the Athens Area Humane Society.

Hargrett Library: The Faith of Harry Crews : "Put You A** On The Chair." An exhibition of the Harry Crews papers. Through May 31.

Russell Library : Johnson's War on Poverty: Breakdown or Breakthrough. This exhibit is a companion to the National Issues Forum being co-hosted by the Russell Library in June. For more information on the NIF, see www.libs.uga.edu/russell.

Science Library: Animal welfare education and supply drive.
