Deb Raftus, Reference, has been selected as an ALA/ACRL Emerging Leader 2007! Emerging Leaders 2007 will select and train 100 new librarians beginning with a daylong session at the 2007 ALA Midwinter Meeting in Seattle. Afterward, it will continue online for six months, culminating at the 2007 Annual Conference in Washington, D.C.

Spectrum Scholarships

Established in 1997, the Spectrum Scholarship Program is the American Library Association's national diversity and recruitment effort designed to address the specific issue of under representation of critically needed ethnic librarians within the profession while serving as a model for ways to bring attention to larger diversity issues in the future. As racial, ethnic and ethno-linguistic communities grow, Spectrum's major drive is to recruit a representative
workforce.

In 2007, the Spectrum Scholarship Program will be celebrating its 10th Anniversary, and funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), will be awarding over 60 scholarships for 2007-2008.  The deadline to apply is March 1, 2007.  See our website for more information: http://www.ala.org/spectrum.

The Spectrum Doctoral Fellowship program will provide full tuition support and annual stipends totaling $20,000 to 10 new full-time library and information science (LIS) doctoral students beginning in the fall of 2007 for all four years of study.
