Emily Funk, Administration

There's a new face in the Libraries' administrative offices: Emily Funk has filled the seat vacated by the recent departure of Amy Petit.

A native of Missouri (Cape Girardeau on the Mississippi River) Emily graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in audiology and speech language pathology. She moved to Athens when her husband, Abe, began pharmacy school.

Emily enjoys “all types of books,” from historical fiction you can learn from to children's books, such as Harry Potter: “I'm totally hooked” on the series, she said. “I'm pretty game for all different kinds of books.”

When it comes to movies, she is an AMC fan, preferring old movies, especially ones with Cary Grant.

If Emily is eating out, she will probably choose Italian, but says nothing beats Mom's cooking. She enjoys baking, especially breads.

Hobbies include travel, genealogy and animals. “I grew up with horses and different kinds of animals. Stress just goes out when I'm in a barn!”
