UGA Libraries Welcomes New Leaders

The University of Georgia Libraries are pleased to announce the naming of three new leaders who join University Librarian and Associate Provost Toby Graham in providing direction-setting and oversight for the libraries.

Newest to UGA is Sara Wright who started her role as Associate University Librarian for Learning Services and Academic Engagement in January. Wright formerly served as director of Cornell University’s Mann & Science Cluster Libraries, and her career at Cornell included stints as Academic Technology Librarian; Head of User Services and Engagement; and Head of Learning, Spaces, and Technology.

Civil Rights Digital Library Relaunches With New Look, 15 Years of Updated Content

A premier online compilation of digital civil rights content is relaunching with a new look and thousands of additional pieces of history.

The milestone marks a new era for the Civil Rights Digital Library (CRDL). This project brings together more than 200 libraries, archives, and museums to provide free online access to historical materials documenting the Civil Rights Movement in the United States. These collaborative partnerships are the bedrock of this national project.

New Digital Resource on the History of Slavery at UGA

On These Grounds: Slavery and the University of Georgia, a new digital resource available through the Hargrett Library, highlights the role of slavery on campus and the lives of the enslaved as documented in University Archives, Digital Library of Georgia, and other Libraries resources. This project is part of a nationwide collaboration for universities to identify and describe records of slavery on their campuses and was funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

Delta Air Lines Documents Available Online Through the Digital Library of Georgia

Historical records detailing the growth of one of the world’s largest airlines are available to the public online through the Digital Library of Georgia, thanks to a partnership between the Delta Flight Museum, the University of Georgia Libraries, and GALILEO.

The collection contains Delta Air Lines’ digitized timetables, flight maps, and annual reports for the past century through its expansions, moves, and mergers with other airlines to become the aviation industry leader in the United States.
