First Day of (K-12) School? Let the Libraries Help!

Submitted by amywatts on

If you're sending a little one off for the first day of school, the Curriculum Materials Library, 207 Aderhold Hall, has a collection of books to help ease fears and get new students off to a good start. Click on this link for a list-- First Day of School

We also have books for middle school and for high school although those may not be all so comforting, but perhaps more.... exhilarating?

Anyone with a UGA ID card can use the CML and you can request delivery to a library near you (Main, Science, Carnegie and the CML) by logging into your library account (UGA user name & password) to get the "Get it" tab in the book's record and then "request". If you get stuck, ask us! Visit the Libraries "Ask Us" page for more info.

And you are always welcome to come visit the Curriculum Materials Library. We have a huge collection with everything from baby books to Young Adult (think Harry Potter or The Fault in Our Stars!) We also have materials for use in the classroom, so we're a good source for math and spelling help, for example.

AND, if something is not available because someone else is using it, you can request it from another University System Library:

  • In the book record, click "Get it"
  • Click on the link that says how many libraries own it
  • Pick any school from the list
  • Click on Request
  • Select which location to which you'd like to have it sent

Ask us for help--that's pretty much the reason we come to work every morning. Happy First Day of School!
