Create a topographic model to 3D Print from a two-dimensional digitized map
In this 90-minute project-based workshop, learn to locate a topographic dataset for an area of interest from the USGS’s National Map 3DEP Lidar Explorer. You will learn to import, define, and create an image of your desired landscape and how to export and create a 3D model from that image file. After, we'll export that model to the makerspace’s 3D printers to bring your once, two-dimensional topographical image into envy-creating three-dimensional 3”x3”x3” desk candy.
Curator Tour, "Sunken Treasure: The Art & Science of Coral Reefs"
On the first Friday of every month, join curator Dr. James Porter in exploring Hargrett's newest exhibit "Sunken Treasure: The Art & Science of Coral Reefs." Dr. Porter will begin his tour in Room 268, next to the Hargrett Gallery, in which he will provide an introduction before leading the group into the gallery. Attendees will gain insight into the 50 years of research and collecting that made this exhibit possible!

Legal Issues in Text Data Mining and Artificial Intelligence
Computational research techniques such as text and data mining (TDM) hold tremendous opportunities for researchers across disciplines ranging from mining scientific articles to create better systematic reviews or curated chemical property datasets to building a corpus of films to understand how concepts of gender, race, and identity are shared over time.
