Services Offered
The Hargrett Library can provide black and white copies of the maps found in our collection, in the form of photographic prints or digital scans on CD.

If you wish to use our maps in a publication, electronic or otherwise, please be aware that you will need to obtain publishing permission and may be required to pay a fee.

As our imaging services department has limited staff and resources, the following should be considered as you decide whether or not to order a copy.

• Our prints and scans are made from black and white negatives and are not facsimile (exact) reproductions.
• Our photographic prints are appropriate as research aids, but are not suitable for framing.
• We do not print or scan portions of maps; only images of the whole map will be provided.
• Photographic prints are limited in size ranging from 5x7 inches to 11x14 inches. If the original size of the map is much larger than the print size, details of the map may be difficult to read (expecially fine print and place names).
• Digital scans are higher quality images than those on the web site.
• Digital scans are available on CD, via e-mail or FTP.
• Orders can take 2 weeks to process. A rush fee (that is double the regular price of the request) is applied to all orders requested within 3 working days.

Prices and Options Available

• Download and fillout the Rare Map Reproduction Request Form after having read our reproduction regulations. Be sure to use the Map call numbers, negative numbers and map titles as given on the site. You may, if you wish, fill out the form online and then print, or print the form and complete it by hand.
• Print out and mail or fax in your completed form. We cannot accept electronically submitted forms as we require signatures.
• If you plan to use the map in any type of publication (including all electronic formats), you must download, fill out and mail or fax in an Application to Publish Form.
