General Information Vertical Files Index

The General Information Vertical Files cover topics, locations, events, and organizations that relate to Georgia state-wide or that resist being categorized by local (city/county) boundaries.  Examples of files found in the General Information section include:

  • broad subjects-- State Parks, Economy, Prisons
  • groups & organizations-- EPA, Creek Indians, State Patrol
  • businesses -- Coca-Cola, Georgia Power Company
  • events -- 1996 Olympics,  1972 Democratic Convention
  • social & political issues -- integration, nuclear waste, HOPE Scholarship
  • history -- Spanish-American War, DeSoto's Route
  • locations -- Etowah Mounds, plantations, Stone Mountain
The General Information files are arranged in alphabetical order.  As in the University of Georgia Files and Georgia City files, the General Information index and some major topics begin with a "General" file.  (For example, the Parks - State - General file precedes the Parks - State - Amicalola file.)
