Collections
The Hargrett
Rare Book and Manuscript Library of the University of Georgia consists
of the Rare Book and Manuscript Library, the Georgiana Collection,
the University of Georgia Archives and Records Management. The Library
serves the University scholarly community, as well as scholars and
researchers worldwide. Subject interests include Georgia, Book Arts,
Theater, Music, History, Literature, Journalism and Genealogy.

Rare
Books
The Hargrett Library
Rare Book unit contains approximately 120,000 rare books on a variety
of subjects . Special emphasis is placed on rare books, maps, broadsides
and other printed material dealing with the State of Georgia and the
Southeast as the state developed from pre-Colonial times to the present.

Manuscripts
The manuscripts area of the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript
Library is the repository for over six million individual items including
family papers, diaries, letters, theatrical papers, corporate and
organizational papers. |

Georgiana
Collection
The Georgiana Collection
documents the ongoing history of the state of Georgia, its people
and culture. It houses approximately 100,000 books by Georgians and
about Georgia. |

Archives
UGA archives preserve
over two centuries of the history of the University of Georgia in
the form of official records, images, correspondence, plats, plans,
publications, & artifacts. Our mission is to acquire, organize,
preserve & publicize such materials & assist researchers in
their use. |

Management
The Records
Management Program promotes sound and legal handling of UGA records
by providing advice and training to UGA personnel, bulk storage for
appropriate documents, retrieval of stored documents and safe destruction
of confidential materials that have met their retention requirement. |
