CREATOR NOTE

A Tennessee native, Louise McBee graduated from East Tennessee State University with a B.S. degree. She then obtained a M. In addition to serving as the Dean of Women from 1963 to 1969, McBee continued to work in administrative positions such as Vice President for Academic Affairs until her retirement from the University in 1988. In 1991, she was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives. In addition to these Vice Presidential papers, researchers may also be interested in Dr. McBee's Dean of Women papers found in collection 97-119: http://www.libs.uga.edu/hargrett/archives/uga97-119.html.

SCOPE NOTE

This preliminary inventory was created from the headings of folders in the McBee collection in the interest of making this important set of papers available as quickly as possible. In the future it will receive more formal analysis and reboxing.

The number and label of each box is given in boldface, followed by the folders contained in the box in regular type. Please note that due to space limitations the extensive McBee holdings must be kept in remote storage and retrieval may take 24 hours during regular business days.
