Fortunately for modern readers, Dr. Henry Hull (1798-1881) was a member of the Class of 1815 and volunteered to protect Athens during the rumored attack. Hull, who later served the University as Professor of Mathematics and as a Trustee, recorded the story and it was published in his son's Annals of Athens.
