The Davis Souvenir Album

This circa 1874 album consists of 14 photographs mounted on cardboard by the Davis studio of Athens - at present the earliest known photographs of the campus. Since Andrew Lipscomb is identified as the former Chancellor of the University and his successor as chancellor, Henry Tucker, is not shown, the album is dated to the year Lipscomb stepped down. A warning to sensitive literary society members: Phi Kappa Hall (plate 8) is identified as Demosthenian!
