Personal Workstation Checklist This checklist is a survey of questions that employees can use to help them systematically check their workstations for problems. The checklist goes through most of the information that is listed in the user-friendly workstation link above in a different format. Choose a Chair that Fits This site provides information about the important features in adjustable chairs and provides a checklist for choosing the appropriate chair. Pointing Devices This site provides information about commonly used pointing devices. It has great pictures of proper alignment and positioning and a checklist to help users choose a pointing device that will be best suited to their workstation and job requirements. Preventing Computer-Related Injuries Colorado State-1996 edition of Vector (Colorado State Computing Newletter) basic information on computer workstation alignment. Newsletters from 2000-2001 have no new information regarding ergonomics. Colorado State's homepage had no new information. Good, basic information. Exercises -- Stress Buster. This is a very good site for stress reduction, including breathing exercises, imagery, managing life priorities and nutrition. Exercises are only breathing exercises and muscle relaxation, not stretches or strengthening. The UGA staff suggestions page. This page is great because the suggestions are helpful and it gets workers involved in ergonomics solutions. Avoiding Carpal Tunnel. Good explanation of pathophysiology, but the most pertinent info is at the bottom of the page in these sections: Prevention, Work Routine, Early Detection. What is Carpal Tunnel? A very thorough site, reviewed by the Harvard Medical school on a quarterly basis. This information is good, especially for someone looking for in-depth knowledge on Carpal Tunnel. NIOSH facts on Carpal Tunnel Good facts explaining carpal tunnel and on ways to prevent it. Computer related repetitive strain injury This site was written by a non-health professional and describes RSI, Cumulative trauma disorders, symptoms, prevention. It has great links to other informative sites. Typing injury This site was written by CTD resource Network, Inc. and gives information on RSI, signs/symptoms, what to do, links to other site for info, information on office equipment. BACK RESOURCES Work-related musculoskeletal disorders This site is maintained by the CDC. Information on this site includes: what are musculoskeletal disorders, what are work related disorders, risk factors, symptoms,how common the disorders are. EYE RESOURCES Improving visual comfort at a computer workstation This site was written by Dr. Ansel, Corporate Vision Consulting and contains information on lighting, screen reflection, display characters, workstation furniture and arrangement. This is good information and is not redundant. ARTICLES Musculoskeletal Disorders Anatomy of an injury This site reviews anatomy and has good description of different injuries.
