Experiences and issues working with our faculty and administration on information literacy:

We are lucky to have a very supportive administration and an energetic faculty. The challenge that we have had as educators is in informing our colleagues about how we can help them with their research projects and with improving literacy. I think their perception of the role of the librarians sometimes hinders how well we can help our students and teachers. For those who are very interested in collaborating with us, time for planning is an issue.

Our information literacy teaching goals:

We'd like to collaborate with the different departments to create a research strand that would begin in ninth grade with simple research and information literacy projects that would build to a culminating research project in the twelfth grade. We'd also like to create a fun, informal community of readers who could join to gether to read books and discuss their reading.
