Please join us in congratulating Tim Smolko, UGA Libraries Cataloger (and Jethro Tull expert) on another accolade for his book, Jethro Tull’s Thick as a Brick and a Passion Play: Inside Two Long Songs. ┬áHis book has been nominated for the 2014 Association for Recorded Sound Collections (ARSC) Awards for Excellence in Historical Recorded Sound Research.

Begun in 1991, the awards are presented to authors and publishers of books, articles, liner notes, and monographs, to recognize outstanding published research in the field of recorded sound. In giving these awards, ARSC recognizes outstanding contributions, encourages high standards, and promotes awareness of superior works.

  2. Congratulations Tim. Two awesome albums that I purchased when they were released from a record store in Athens across from the downtown Varsity (which is now Five Guys.

Thick As A Brick was a unique concept and Ian Anderson was one of the more talented artists of a time when there were a lot.
