What’s the drilling noise at the Main Library?

August 16, 2013 – 5:27 PM

If you’ve visited the Main Library already this semester, you may be wondering what all the drilling noise is. Work began in July on the brick siding encasing the building. It’s expected to last until October or November.

You will see and hear crews working on the South, East and West sides of the annex (the taller part of the building, in the back). The normal work schedule will be Monday to Thursday, 7am to 5:30pm with approximately four crews.

The work being done will have periods of drilling noise that will be loud. The duration of each drill sound will not last long but will be sporadic all during the day.

Please pardon our noise/construction. We apologize for any disturbance. Ear plugs are available at the Security desk and the Reference Desk, both are on your right as you enter from the lobby.
