The Big Read!
June 16, 2008 – 3:06 PMThe UGA Libraries in partnership with the Georgia Museum of Art, the Athens-Clarke County Public Library, and the Lyndon House Arts Center have received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts for the Big Read. This initiative is designed to encourage reading and stimulate conversation about a chosen book within the community. We have chosen the coming of age novel Bless Me, Ultima by Rudolfo Anaya. We will be scheduling programming from September 13, 2008 to October 26, 2008 surrounding the themes and symbols of the novel. Our kick-off event will be September 13, 2008 and is designed as a community-wide fiesta, complete with music, food, and giveaways of the book.
