Beginning Jan. 19th users will need their PIN to make GIL Express requests through the Universal Catalog (https://giluc.usg.edu/).
If you have already gotten your PIN through GIL’s My Account page (https://gil.uga.edu/cgi-bin/Pwebrecon.cgi?DB=local&PAGE=pbLogon) you do not need another one. You will use the same PIN for GIL Express that you use to access your account in GIL.
On Jan. 7th, we started using a PIN (Personal Identification Number) to logon to our accounts in GIL. Since the user determines the PIN, this helps ensure the prevention of unauthorized access to your account. PIN access is required for retrieving the GALILEO password, reviewing items charged to your account, renewing materials and making requests through GIL.
You will receive your PIN via email when you attempt to logon to your account. Once you have logged on using your generic PIN you can change your PIN from your My Account page (The Firefox browser works more quickly than Internet Explorer when changing your PIN.)
If you do not have an email address in your patron record, please contact the Access Services Department (706-542-3256) to have one added to your account.
