PIN Implementation–Added Security for Your Library Account

January 6, 2010 – 2:21 PM

Beginning Jan. 7th, users will need a PIN (Personal Identification Number) to logon to their account in GIL. In an effort to provide more security in accessing your account online, the use of a PIN has been implemented. Since the user determines the PIN, this helps ensure the prevention of unauthorized access to your account. PIN access will be necessary for retrieving the GALILEO password, reviewing items charged to your account, renewing materials and making requests through GIL.

You will receive your PIN via email when you attempt to logon to your account. Once you have logged on using your generic PIN you can change your PIN from your My Account page (The Firefox browser works more quickly than Internet Explorer when changing your PIN.)

If you do not have an email address in your patron record, please contact the Access Services Department (706-542-3256) to have one added to your account.

Beginning Jan. 18th users will need their PIN to make GIL Express requests through the Universal Catalog.
